It was the first drama series to officially use the term "teleserye," with its promise of elevating standards of drama production with movie-like quality. Pangako Sa 'Yo was a successful drama series aired by ABS-CBN in 2000. The title and the name of the main character was also stylized to Annaliza. Eventually, ABS-CBN decided to shelve the project. From being a prime-time series, the network decided to place it in the daytime slot. Dawn Zulueta, Eric Quizon, Juliana Palermo, and then-newbie Barbie Forteza were included in the cast. The series was supposed to come in two chapters, with Ella Cruz playing the young Anna Liza, and Maja Salvador playing the teen version. In 2008, after the success of Maria Flordeluna, ABS-CBN secured the rights to do a remake of Anna Liza. Unfortunately, the series ended with an incomplete storyline because of the untimely death of Julie in 1985. However, they turned it down because the show required mature scenes.Īnna Liza was a drama series aired during the '80s on GMA-7, with Julie Vega playing the lead role. That same year, Jane Oineza revealed during her Pinoy Big Brother stint that she and Marco Gumabao were offered to play the young couple. JC de Vera and Ejay Falcon were being considered as two of the three male leads. In 2014, the names of Anne Curtis, Cristine Reyes, and Angelica Panganiban came out as possible leading ladies of the show. Business unit head Ruel Bayani, along with the new Pasion De Amor's writing team, continued to develop the project. ![]() It was even reported that Jake Cuenca turned down the project in favor of Maria Mercedes. In 2013, ABS-CBN decided to give Pasion de Amor remake another try. The first pitch of a remake came in 2008, with Diether Ocampo and Ejay Falcon as two of the three male lead characters. Years later, ABS-CBN acquired the rights to do a Filipino adaptation. Pasion de Amor was a Latin drama aired on ABS-CBN's afternoon slot in 2005. ![]()
